Tom was my supervisor at Federikson Engineering on my first job out of college. We were in a team designing two new buildings at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. I found myself reading some papers he gave me as technical reference last weekend when I was doing some spring cleaning at home. It prompts me to look him up in the internet and did not know he just pass away recently. I guess he was saying goodbye to me through his papers. RIP Tom.

Tom was with my late husband on the night we all met at a Halloween dance at the Berkeley Unitarian Fellowship in 1969, fully forty three years ago. We witnessed the ups and downs of each other's lives.
Tom even came to Seattle when Pat had surgery after he was diagnosed with cancer and he tended to Pat so that I could go to work. When we moved here he drove one of our cars up from California. When Pat

I valued Tom's friendship for over 20 years and I couldn't have asked for a better friend. Tom was truly a unique individual who you couldn't help but love. He always had a project going on but always had time to lend a hand if you needed one.

We shared many bike rides/trips, meals and good times together. I was also privileged to enjoy the many meals he cooked for his friends.

I will miss him dearly.

Along with overwhelming historical events, Tom was challenged by extraordinary personal developments.

I think Tom's most remarkable achievement was instilling self determination in his challenged daughter Carla to achieve as much self sufficiency as possible. At age 40, Carlatalked of howher father's insistence on only helping her just barely enough motivated her to develop her own skills as much as possible. I think Carla felt that Tom's love was completely unconditional and enduring yet helpful only to the right point.

I've pretty much decided at this point in my life that the easy people are nowhere near as interesting as the complicated souls. It takes time to know people. I kept in touch thru my parents over time. Tom made an indelible impression on me as a child. My step-father, Pat and he were friends in Berkeley when I first met him and his kids. My childhood friendship with Carla was also one that I will never forget. He was

Among human relations friendship is the most wonderful and durable. Our memorable friendship really lasted from our childhood to your death. But it will continue in me until the end of my own life. Thank you Tamás for your friendship, which I appreciate so much!

May his soul join the precious, beautiful soul of our daughter. Carla and live on forever in our heart. I long ago chose to remember only the good memories and honor Tamas as the father of my children.

Tom was a great neighbor and an even better friend. His warmth, humor and heartfelt compassion for everything was a joy to experience. He will be greatly missed.
